Equifax Hacked

September 7, 2017 Jared Hall General

Holy crap, Batman!  Yes, the company of last resort to protect your identity has just coughed it up.   This breach included the Social Security Numbers of 143 Million Americans, a little less that half of the US population.

Equifax reports that over 209,000 credit card numbers were stolen, along with identifying information (PCI) for 182,000 people.

The breach was discovered on July 29, 2017 and utilized an undisclosed website vulnerability.

Equifax’s stock has been hit hard, as you might expect.   Equifax has started a new website to address this issue at:  https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com.

Everyone in the US is now entitled to free credit protection services.  You can check if you’ve been affected, and auto-enroll, here: https://www.equifaxsecurity2017.com/potential-impact/
